ADOPTION PROCESS
Step 1: Application
See a puppy you’re interested in that is up on our website and social media? Apply below!
Depending how many puppies we have will determine how many applicants we can accept!
Our adoption process is very hands-on and personal! I make a personal call to you so we’re able to get to know each other and why you’re wanting a baby to join your family. We believe that our puppies deserve the best homes, care and love.
We encourage families to start by filling out our application! There is absolutely NO OBLIGATION to send a deposit to get a puppy through us until after we have a conversation.
Here at Elaine’s Pup Co, completion of the Puppy Application does not guarantee that you will be approved or commit you to anything yet.
After we receive your application, we will follow up with a phone interview!
Step 2: Phone Conversation
This is such a nice part of the process! After filling out the application, we will get on the phone and get to know each other! I will ask more questions to get to know you and your lifestyle a little better and find out what you are looking for in a puppy. We will answer any questions you might have about our program, the puppies parents, and evaluate if we are a “good fit” to help you find the right puppy for your family! We respect that no two families desires are the same, and we try our best to place our puppies in proper, loving, and forever homes. At the end of the day, we would rather help you find the “right puppy” than pressure you into adopting from us.
**We reserve the right to deny anyone at any time if we feel that they’re not the right fit for one of our puppies.
Approval for the puppies will be given 1-2 days after phone conversation.
I’m so excited to potentially get some time to talk with you!
Step 3: Reserve your Puppy
After the phone interview and learning more about you, you may be approved to move forward with a puppy! Depending on how many pups our mom has will determine how many spots we have available so a deposit secures that you will be able to add a puppy to your family!
You would then place a deposit to hold your future pup. This is a nonrefundable reservation fee of $500. We prefer to accept payments through Venmo or a website called “Gooddog”. If this does not work for you, we can discuss alternate options. We do deposits to ensure that we have serious dog owners taking home our little yorkie puppies. There is a lot of love and care that go into our program and into our puppies. The deposit also funds your puppies first weeks of health and wellness to set them up for a healthy life from food, vitamins, medicine, etc.
We DO NOT take any deposits without a phone or video chat interview to make sure a yorkie puppy is the best fit for you, your family, and the new incoming little one! After we have had a phone conversation, you’ve been approved, and your deposit was received, you become a part of our Elaine’s Yorkie family!
Step 4: Puppy Growth & Updates
Now one of these beautiful pups are officially yours! Follow along with them on our Facebook page so you’re able to see their different personalities and how well they’re growing! It’s crazy to see the quick growth and how different they all are.
Our main communication happens through text message where you will get 2-3 updates a week on how they’re growing! This is probably my favorite thing to do during this journey. I’m able to take some cute pictures and videos of your little one and have an amazing conversation with you about how they’re growing. You’ll love this!
Step 5: Homecoming Day!
The most exciting day is coming to get your puppy!! You will come to get your little one and take them home to their forever home. This will be around 10 weeks after being born. Yorkies are smaller breeds so it’s suggested to keep them a little longer to ensure proper development. By this time, they will be further along in trainings and learning from their mom and siblings and be more socialized. You will come with the remainder of cash in hand or you will pay 2-3 days before pickup to ensure the money clears before puppy is taken. This is to safe check us and I hope you understand.
All our pups go to pet only homes. We also do not allow other pups in your home to visit first with these puppies just to keep sickness down and all pups safe. Traveling arrangements will need to be made at week 7-8.
You will be taking home a care package and information to better equip you and your puppy as they transition to a new home and into your family! This will include..
A care package: puppy pads, toys, training treats, blanket with litters scent, donut bed, starter food, etc.
Important information: AKC registration, Health records, boarding and business info, yorkie breed tips, etc.
